6 Small Things That Can Change Your Life

In today’s day and age, we are all quickly becoming aware that our mental, and spiritual health is just as important as our physical well being. So what are some ways we help ensure that our mental and spiritual health is in just as great shape as our physical wellness? What can we do to improve our lives, without completely changing it? Continue reading, because in this article we’ll be discussing six simple things that can you can do to change your life for the better!

Start a conversation with a stranger

1. When you see a stranger at a store or the mall, ask them how they’re doing. Often times we get so caught up with all the Social Media buzz and distraction from mobile phones that it’s good to have a genuine conversation.

When out in public, many of us are often preoccupied with our phones that we forget that we are surrounded by actual people, not just screens. Strike up a conversation with those around you, something so simple has become more and more difficult because we’re all used to electronic communication.

2. Take off your shoes when you get home:taking-off-your-shoes

You are on your feet all day, working, running errands, shopping, your feet take a pounding. When you get home, you deserve to relax, and enjoy being somewhere that is your own. Your home should be somewhere fun, and comfortable. Your home is a place to relax, so relax and leave those shoes at the door!

3. Open doors for other people:

It only takes 10-15 seconds to open a door for someone, and it’s a sign of respect for your fellow man. Today we spend so much time on our phones, and glued to our screens that at times we even forget to smile when we pass strangers. Opening doors for others is a polite thing to do. And it offers people the opportunity to say two words that we all often forget to include in our everyday vocabulary, “thank you.”

4. Smile at Strangers:

It is so important to remember to smile, similar to a yawn, smiles have a contagious effect, a simple smile can brighten up another person’s day and they’ll even smile back at you. So smile, and show off those pearly whites! Remember: smiling is better for your health than frowning; it takes fewer muscles, and allows you to show off your awesome smile!

5. Try meditating right when you wake up for 10 minutes:

Why not start off the day on a good note, take 10 minutes for yourself when you first get up. Meditation is a great way to relax, and strengthen your core. In addition to this, it helps center yourself, and focus your energy in a positive direction.

In terms of meditation, yoga is something that a lot of people enjoy doing. Yoga is a great way to exercise, strengthen your body and get in touch with your spirit. It is also a great way to improve your balance, and to reduce stress. Yoga can also be used at the end of the day to reflect and de-stress.

6. End the day writing down all the positive things that you accomplished for the day. Remember life is not a sprint, but it’s a marathon.

Take a few minutes at the end of each day, to reflect upon the day that is coming to an end, maybe it was a hard day, life gets complicated and difficult at times. It is important to remember, and appreciate all of the positive things that happen during the day. So why not take a little bit of time at the end of each day, just 5 or 10 minutes, to think about it, what could you improve on? What lessons did you learn from the day’s activities? How can you take those lessons with you in to the future?

In addition to these ways to improve your mental, spiritual, and overall life, there are lots of other ways to continue to improve your life, such as:

Being honest
Laughing as much as possible
Surrounding yourself with positive people
Getting enough rest
Drinking lots of water

While these things might seems simple, innocent or even trivial, they are necessary to help keep your stress levels low and your attitude positive.
In this day and age we are all in a big rush, running from point A to point B, getting stuck in traffic, glued to our phones, and trying to fit everything in to a short time span that we don’t take some time for ourselves. Hopefully the above article helps you to think about, and create new ways to improve your life, and keep your mental and spiritual health in tip-top shape.
